At La Muda Club, every design tells a story, and with our first launch, we decided there was no better way to start this journey than with a big party. It was in January 2019 when we collaborated with the talented Andalusian artist, Miguel Camacho, to create Boxer #01 LA FIESTA, a garment that captures the essence of celebration and debauchery with a touch of nostalgia and technology.
The Party That Never Ends: A Design That Marks the Beginning
The design of Boxer #01 LA FIESTA is inspired by those parties that seem to have no end, where the line between reality and fantasy is blurred. It is not clear if it is a chaotic birthday or a costume party overflowing with adults who have decided to leave all inhibitions behind. Vibrant colors and flat shapes contrast intensely, with cold tones predominating accompanied by their complementary colors, creating a visual explosion that reflects the festive spirit of New York on Halloween.
But we couldn't leave out the detail that ties it all together: the iconic horse head, a meme that has traveled through time and digital space to become a modern cultural symbol. This reference is not just a nod to pop culture, but a representation of how the most unusual trends take root and become part of our lives, just as La Muda Club seeks to take root in your closet.
The Horse Head: From Novelty Item to Immortal Meme
The horse head has come a long way from novelty accessory to internet icon. It all started with sporadic references in Japanese anime and recommendations in travel guides, but it was a viral video in 2008 that catapulted the mask to global fame. Since then, it has appeared on Google Street View, in the middle of hurricanes, and even in a handshake with President Barack Obama, becoming a symbol of irony and absurdity in modern culture.
Miguel Camacho, aware of this rich cultural history, incorporates the horse's head into his design for Boxer #01 LA FIESTA as a sort of tribute to culture's ability to reinvent itself and continually surprise us.
